Over the last few years the genre of rock has been pulled in so many different directions, leaving timeless vocal melodies and guitars to become far and few between. Wayland naturally possesses these qualities and more. Formed in 2010, The band was soon signed to Kiefer Sutherland’s Iron Works Records by hit singer/ song writer/ producer Jude Cole. Managed by Jesse James Dupree, Wayland released their first single “Welcome To My Head” which experienced high ranking on Mainstream and Active Rock charts. The follow up charting single “Reno” began to showcase Wayland’s diverse influences, from huge vocal harmony reminiscent of classic rock icons like Journey and Queen, and thick crunchy guitar riffs and pounding drums leaning on the hard rock side of the spectrum. With the release of 2014’s “Get A Little” the band’s music video for the song went viral online bringing in massive social media and YouTube numbers, causing the song to hit #6 on iTunes Rock charts. 2016 brought the Active Rock radio hit single “Bloody Sunrise” taking the band into almost 5 straight years of non-stop touring, boasting 250+ shows a year. There’s no signs of Wayland slowing down any time soon. Their new album “Rinse & Repeat” is due Sep 22nd, 2017. Their current single, “Through The Fire” has reached #35 on Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts– FB

I am a suburban girl. I do not live in the big city of Chicago. So when a band like Wayland hits a small town like West Dundee (Illinois), it is truly something special. RocHaus is the newest venue in the burbs and it is truly magical. It is the perfect place for one person to let their hair down and enjoy some amazing craft beer while dancing to some phenomenal rock music.

When I go to a Wayland show, it’s a great sense of community among the fans. Everyone is there to remember the good days of Queen and Journey. With their current album Rinse and Repeat being a favorite at a ton of radio stations, Mitch and the boys truly have something to be happy about.

Mitch, lead singer, is just a ball of fire on stage. He jumps and literally wales to amazing songs like “Get a Little Drunk,” “Bloody Sun Rise” and my favorite “Through the Fire.” His energy is undeniable and it’s addicting to watch.

Personally, I find it fun to watch Nigel to play the drums. He is mesmerizing and just so on point every time he plays. He’s rough yet has a sweet side to him that seems playful.

In all, Wayland brings forth a right to rock on every level. With great guitar riffs by Phil and a heavy bass line by Dean, there is nothing stopping these guys from taking over the world of rock and make a path for others to follow.
