As the concert flood gates finally open back up with many of our beloved bands touring once again, many of us just scramble to find tickets to a show that seems to be a record sell out much like the epic co – headlining show with Simple Plan and Sum 41 hailing from the luscious landscape of Canada.

We all remember those stellar Warped Tour days, multiple stages, great bands, and loads of music that captivated your musical senses; this show truly emphasized the craziness of what was going to be a great evening of music mayhem inside the Fillmore nestled in the heart of Philadelphia.

For anyone who has longed for one of the most energized shows of this magnitude since the pandemic had taken away all live music for more than two solid years, then this was one show no fan of either band would have wanted to miss out on.

Even before the show had kicked off, parking was almost impossible to find and the line was down the street and wrapped around the corner like the good old days at Vans Warped Tour.

The evening kicked off with a great set from direct support of Tampa Bay’s own Punk power house

Set It Off, this band was great certainly worked the crowd which was already packed in from of the stage singing along to all their hits. I found that quite amazing that for a band I know nothing about they are popular and for the amount of performance time, the band really made it known in Philly just how good they are.

The wait was over for Simple Plan to take the stage as part of the co – headlining set at the Fillmore. I always remembered them being a five piece outfit from day one, this time around taking the stage for the first time in Philadelphia as a four piece band. Still without a bass player this time around on this tour, they still really nailed another stellar performance.

They opened their set with ‘I’d do anything’, rounding a blistering set with ‘Addicted‘, and‘

‘Welcome to my life’.

With rotating slots each evening of this amazing show, the packed venue was treated to one of the greatest performances from Sum 41 setting off perhaps one of the greatest circle pits amongst the crowd surfers being passed from back to front, the energy from fans to band was so great at this show, I never stopped to think about getting the covid 19 virus or at least mild symptoms from being in a sweaty hot wall to wall show.

Sitting through two headliners is no easy task by any means it’s like getting double the music, double the entertainment as a one ticket bonus, certainly a great concept with touring bands after all we been through with zero live music in some great venues.

Sum 41 opened their amazing set with ‘Motivation’ and pulling out same fan favorites with the likes of

‘Over my Head’, and ‘Walking Disaster ‘and they truly entertained many Queen diehard fans with their remake of ‘We will Rock You’

An absolute great show with these two Canadian bands that have rocked countless fans young to old, for some seeing this show for the first time captured the essence of a true punk- era rock show for others it was a time to let loose with being without music in a live setting for a long time.

This show proved that live music still on fire from the stages in Philly.
