It was a good night for a concert here in Morgantown.  Tonight, at Ruby Amphitheater  Don McLean headlined the Friday’s Ruby Summer Concert Series.  You may remember Don McLean from the  late 70s with his hit “American Pie”.  Well he still is around still sounding strong with his word of his song which tells of the day the music died.

Don is on his current American tour to support the 50th anniversary of the song and also his new album “American Boys”

Also, he has written a children’s book and has a documental coming out on Paramount Plus on July16th on the making of American Pie.

He started his show by walking on stage and saying “ I’m not in a hurry tonight.  So ‘m going to play these songs and we’re going to have some fun”.

He started the night with two songs from his new album “American Boys”.  He said some people think that the album is a continuous of American Pie.  And all he said that was 50 years ago.  All the songs were written with his guitar player.

The list of the songs he played during the night were

Crossroads

Little Sister

Jerusalem

And I Love You So

I was Alright

A group of songs by Elvis

Blues (from new album)

Vincent

From there he talked about keeping his publicing rights and why It took him so long to get his first album out.  And why it means that American Pie means that he doesn’t have to work unless he wants to.

Winterworld

Mexically

A few songs about Mexico

Don’t Fade Away
