A perfect summer night at a perfect outdoor venue in Highland Park, IL called Ravinia showcased a perfect concert performance from Lyle Lovett and His Large Band.

Something must be going right as this was Lyle’s 19th performance at the popular venue. As Lyle’s large band took the stage to kick off the night one has to reflect on the success of the singer, songwriter, actor, and record producer. Lyle has recorded 13 albums and has won four Grammy Awards for Best Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Album. The band performed flawlessly performing songs like “You’ve Been So Good Up to Now”, “Twelfth of June”, “My Baby Don’t Tolerate”, “If I Had a Boat”, “She’s No Lady”, and “That’s Right (You’re Not From Texas)”.

Lyle was really enjoying the night as he would talk to the audience with his funny short stories or converse on stage with his bandmates. Many times during the night he introduced his Large Band giving credit to all 13 of them. On stage singing, either back-up vocals or taking lead vocals was Illinois born blues vocalist Francine Reed who has been a regular singing partner with Lyle Lovett since the 1980s. Her distinctive voice simply fits like a glove and she is an integral part of his show.
