Scarleth a band to be heard

Scarleth is remarkable and experienced Ukrainian metal band playing music on joint of modern heaviness and diverse melodism. For the time being the band has played several hundreds of live shows, released two full-length albums worldwide and took part in many festivals where Blind Guardian, Rage, Ensiferum, Rotting Christ, Leaves’ Eyes, Kalmah, Cemetery Of Scream, Atrocity and other famous bands performed. Band’s style is expanding constantly and represents mind-blowing mixture of many melodic genres – from power, folk, doom and gothic metal to modern/progressive metal. The band completely deserves to be called one of the most outstanding young musical representatives of its style.

Dan Locke: How is it to be a female-fronted metal band from Ukraine. How are the male metal bands taking it?
Scarleth: Well, here is a lot of female-fronted bands in Ukraine as well as male-fronted, I don’t think it’s about which gender is thinking, it’s about who you sing and what =)
You have been around since 2011. How did you form?
Victor came to Kyiv and began searching for musicians. It was around 2014-2015, I think. It took some time but finally all we got together and now it’s our Five!
Ekaterina Kapshuk and Yana -You are the newest member of the band. Tell me about your background
We had some bands before Scarleth, but nothing that special. Also took music lessons etc.
Ekaterina, what are some of the highlights in your career?
Ekaterina: Being in Scarleth is the main highlight, it’s my first and only band.
Ekaterina, how did you become the vocalist of Scarleth?
Ekaterina: Guys found me through the internet, I was looking for a band to sing in.
Your band mostly focus on playing in Kyiv. Any plans to tour other parts of the world?
Actually, in Kyiv we play mostly big shows and festivals, we’re trying to play as geographically widely as possible. Now, when VORTEX is released we are going to plan some tours in different places.
How is live music in Kyiv?
Mostly people satiated with gigs in Kyiv, so it’s a bit hard for Ukrainian young bands to get acknowledged. Still, we played great Vortex Presentation, where were plenty of people and we are extremely happy =)
You just did the Vortex Tour. What is the touring in Kyiv?
We did VORTEX TOUR in 5 cities of Ukraine and the last one in Kyiv. We are pleased with the results, we are happy that a lot of people engaged, bought CDs, visited our concerts. This tour was great =)
You have been around since 2005. How has music changed since then?
Now, as we are in a new page of our band, music is more modern, electronic still you can always recognize Scarleth’s style.
Which Festival has given you the most coverage for new fans?
It’s hard to tell. There are always a lot of people from every festival we played who follow us and love us, and we love them too =) And it’s doesn’t matter if it’s festival from Ukraine, Belarus or Romania, music unites =)
How is the new Cd?
A new album is Vortex of emotions and feelings which will carry you through all these songs which represent different stories of life. We are sure everyone will find something for themselves in it.
What is the best track on it?
It’s impossible to pick one from eleven. We put our souls in it and we love all of them. Lets people listen to it and find their own favorites =)
Any plans for touring?
In near future, we are going to visit festivals in Europe and Ukraine and absolutely will see you at major rock festivals of the world 😉
How do you see yourselves in five years?
Actually, you know, nowadays it this world of constant changes and adaptability it is crucial to do what you like, live the life you want. As we say, Be what you are!
