As if performing an intimate concert over the Christmas holidays at Chicago’s small but legendary Vic Theatre wasn’t enough, The Lumineers decide to return to Chicago in February for not one, but TWO shows this month. The band will set up their gear and go full swing on February 21st and 22nd, at the Allstate Arena, in Rosemont, and their fans are elated.

Known for their catchy and happy-go-lucky pop song, “ho hey,” which was released in 2012, the song quickly became an anthem of joy for millions of the band’s fans. And, if you think you have not heard the song before, think again. The song has been featured in several television advertisements, such as for Blue Moon beer and the internet search engine, Bing. It has also been used to promote movies, e.g. Silver LInings Playbook, as well as television shows The X-Files and Bones, just to name a couple. Needless to say, this song is wildly popular but, The Lumineers are no one hit wonder type of band. They have proven success within their lengthy (almost 15 years) career thus far.

The band’s holiday performance at The Vic Theatre, presented by Chicago radio station, 93XRT, may have been “intimate” but it was definitely crowded, as the event sold-out within a matter of minutes. The decision to return to Chicago in such a short time-span could be because of supply and demand, in relation to the above-referenced (immediate) sell-out performance or, as I would like to personally believe, perhaps it is because The Lumineers simply love Chicago. And, honestly, who could blame them? Chicago is a great City, especially when it comes to music.
