RealadyWorld is a sitcom about upcoming recording artist #Realady. Who has a great love for her people. She supports the Black community, as she presents productive and positive examples before her Brothers & Sisters. Due to the negative outlook of her people. Realady felt the need to embrace her people in love, peace, and enlightenment. Encouraging and uplifting the black culture….

What is your upbringing?

I was fortunate to have both parents in the home, raised in Los Angeles, California. Who taught my siblings and I about God, as well as the values of life? Self-love, family, education, etc…

How did you discover music?

My parents would be the first to introduce me to music. Music was played in my home as I woke up most mornings and while going to sleep the majority of nights. Music was played in our home all day, every day. From the gospel of Shirley Caesar to the funky sound of Jimmy Hendrix on down to The Beatles, we had every vinyl record you can think of. My mother was always harmonizing and would sing all night long listening to music or not. I fell in love with music through my parents.

How did you start to write music?

I started writing poetry as I began learning and understanding the syntax of English as early as 5 or 6 years old. Being that English is my favorite subject, I started singing the words from poetry I had written. I wrote my first song at 11yrs. old called, “Love”.

Who is Realady?

Realady
Realady

Realady “The Real Lady” minus one “L” is reality. A child of God whose gift is to write. Realady, “The R&B, Rapping, and Acting Chic”, I like to say. Another alias I go by is “Mz. L.A. Confidential”. Also known as the “Modern Day Harriett Tubman”.  Realady is a genuine person who loves writing and entertaining. Realady is real, driven, with a sense of humor, but a serious person overall. She’s a leader in her own right.

What was your first performance at like?

The stage gives me life, I’ve never known. It takes me places I’ve never been. It’s a feeling I don’t want to come down from. I felt it then, I still feel it today whenever I perform.

It’s a magical feeling. The first time I performed at 6yrs. old singing in the school choir. I knew performing was something I wanted to do for a long time.

How do you describe your music?

My music is original and versatile. It’s different and pleasing to the ears. Which may bring awareness to certain situations, which also sends out positive messages. My music will bring you happiness, fun, excitement, joy, enlightenment, and awareness that speaks the truth about life, things I’ve seen, or that may be going on in the world. My music speaks true to life.

How did you get your name?

The name “Realady” derives from the phrase, “Real Lady”. I came across the name defining myself and my music as a “reality”. My music is real. As I had gotten older, I became a lady. Starring at the word, “reality, I thought how can I spell it differently to make it my own. I just kept repeating the word, so I wrote it down by the way it sounds, with the “D” sound. I put the “d” in (reality) and pictured lady to be the suffix. Creating my own compound, “Real Lady” minus one “L”. One word, one name, I became Realady… falling in love with the name.

Tell me about your sitcom?

“Realady World” sitcom is about me coming up as an indie artist who believes in “Black Empowerment”, being an example supporting and promoting “Black Businesses”. A more positive depiction of how most films portray the “Black” people. Realady World Sitcom focuses on entrepreneurship and the betterment of our people.

How did you get into acting?

I’ve always been a natural when it comes to speaking or performing in front of large crowds or in front of anyone. My parents allowed me to always be myself and to speak my mind, so it gave me the freedom to always be me. I rewrote my first role in a stage play for my 6th grade graduation. I did great and had so much fun, I saw myself making a living from acting. I’ve always done well at it.

What are you’re feeling about streaming music?

One of the best contributions to come to the music industry is streaming. The music industry has evolved, especially with streaming. You can stream anywhere, anytime however much you want….

I’m from the old school, so I respect the era from which I came up. I love to see a record spinning; I miss the sound of the needle spinning around. I don’t miss the damage that can easily be done using vinyl. Digital is very more more convenient and effective all across the board. Which is very beneficial to any artist.

What are your feelings about the social uprising going on in the United States?

The social uprising of today has been anticipated for some time now. Certain things have to happen to get the right attention from the right people to bring on the right change needed here in the US today.  Police brutality and inequality for human life/rights have existed well before my time. A change is coming along, which is long overdue with America’s government and political figures in the midst of the people.

What song from the past is in your mind right now? And what is the meaning that song means to you?

There are 2-songs that always ring a bell in my head that still resonates today with what is still going on in the world. “What’s Going On” & “Wake Up Everybody”…

These songs still speak to the racism and discrimination, we as black people still face today. We are still crying out to be treated equal as we should receive the same rights as whites and other races living in America.

How do you feel the Covid-19 virus going to affect the music business in the future?

Realady

Concerts, festivals, and big events that draw in big crowds will continue to be affected by Covid-19. We are living a new norm, where we as people continue to be more precautions than ever before. There will be more entertainment online than ever.

What have you been doing with your self-quarantine?

Since self-quarantining, I’ve been learning as much as I can about marketing & licensing in the music business. Building my music catalog, staying connected with other artists. Staying focused as well as planning for the future dealing with the new norm. Getting involved with children in the community regarding academics and life skills.

Have you discovered or rediscovered any new hobbies?

My new hobby is Tik- Tok. Very interested in Tik-Tok…

Lots of people are doing nightly concerts over either YouTube, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. What are you planning to do?

I plan on blowing up a few of my new singles from using Tik-Tok…

Do you think it will be possible to make a living doing concerts this way?

Yes, anyone can become an overnight success from social media. It’s happening every day, I’d imagine, or almost every day.

First it was an article in the New York Times, then Rolling Stones talked about it and finally Live Nation CEO said that concerts may not start again until fall of 2021. Do you think this could happen?

Yes, there will be some time before concerts can be held at public venues due to the safety precautions we need to continue to take and remain aware of. With the anticipation of another wave of the Coronavirus that’s expected in 2021. I don’t see how and why any concert would be held publicly anytime soon.

With Social Distance being the norm. Do you feel that it maybe the end of music fest for the next couple of years?

Due to the Social Distancing, music fest events may very well be postponed for a few years. People still have family members who are dying and/or still ill from the Covid-19. People in general are frightened about getting back to the norm, afraid they might catch it. The unknown is very scary. So, safety is best, no music fest until we can get Covid-19 cases down to a low or to none at all.

What about Holographic concerts in our living room?

A lot of people probably would settle for a Holographic concert. It would definitely be a different experience that seems to be quite enjoyable. A great way to improvise.

How do you see yourself in the next five years?

I see myself in the next 5yrs. with several accolades from music, movies, and books. Where all of my work will show and speak for itself.  I seek to develop other artist and continue to be a source in support of the black community and other communities as well. Serving a purpose in the lives of women, children, and senior citizens.

Anything you would like to say in closing?

I would absolutely like to thank UnRated Magazine for this wonderful interview. It not only gave me an opportunity to introduce myself, it’s preparing me for the interviews to come. It allowed me to reflect on some beautiful memories. I thank you again for this opportunity and possibly more to come. May you all take care and remain safe.
