Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!  ABBA The Concert Invades Ravinia

A night of ABBA music always seems to put smiles on faces and pushes people to get up and dance away.  Ravinia Festival, the beautiful outdoor music venue in Highland Park, IL, welcomed back for their 10th season, ABBA The Concert.  This cover band direct from Sweden, does a tremendous job performing many hit songs ABBA made famous during the ‘70s and ‘80s.  If you close your eyes you might think you are listening to the original ABBA band – they are that good.  ABBA The Concert has the distinction of being the only cover band in the world permitted to use identical copies of ABBA’s original stage costumes.

The band performed hit after hit of ABBA music.  They started the show with “Summer Night City”, and then performed “Gimme!, Gimme!, Gimme!”, “Knowing Me, Knowing You”, “Money Money Money”, “When I Kissed the Teacher”, “Chiquitita”, “I Have a Dream”, “One of Us”, “Waterloo”, “S.O.S”, “Super Trouper”, and “Mamma Mia”.

After an intermission the band was back to perform “Voulez-Vous”, “Fernando”, “Take a Chance on Me”, and “The Winner Takes It All”.  The band also performed two brand new ABBA songs  released this year, “I Still Have Faith in You”, and “Don’t Shut Me Down”.  The band then performed a medley that included the three songs “The Visitors/Lay All Your Love on Me/When All Is Said and Done”, followed by “Does Your Mother Know”, and then the classic hit “Dancing Queen”.  They ended the night with “Thank You for The Music”.

The original ABBA band is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with record sales estimated between 150 to 385 million sold worldwide.  ABBA the Concert did a great job of bringing back these great songs so check them out as they are on tour now.  Mamma Mia!
