Ravinia Festival, Highland Park, IL

A late spring concert featuring singer-songwriter, Jackson Browne, took place at the beautiful concert venue Ravinia Festival, located in Highland Park, IL. His fans filled up the large pavilion and the lawn seats that circle it. One must remember that Jackson’s career spans well over 50 years in the business and he has sold over 18 million albums. When Jackson Browne took the stage with his band he started out the night with his hit song “Somebody’s Baby”. Looking back, this song was recorded in 1982 and was used in the movie soundtrack Fast Times at Ridgemont High and this would be Browne’s highest-charting single of his career. He then performed “The Barricades of Heaven”, followed by “The Long Way Around”.

Jackson Browne released his 15th studio album called Downhill from Everywhere in July 2021, and it was great hearing some of the newer songs including “Minutes to Downtown”, “Still Looking For Something”, and “Downhill from Everywhere”.

The concert was simply amazing listening to the raw yet passionate voice of Browne and he also spoke with light conversation about his career and songs. His band was phenomenal and his back up female vocalists added that special dimension to each song.

He performed a total of 24 songs and carefully weaved around his musical collection with a great mix of older and newer songs. Hearing song classics like “You Love the Thunder”, “The Dreamer”, “Doctor My Eyes”, “The Pretender”, and “Running on Empty” brought from his fans large cheers and singing along with these explosive hits. Jackson Browne also performed “I Am A Patriot”, a song written by Little Steven that also received a great response from the audience.
