Shaffer Chimere Smith known as “Ne-Yo” started his career in the music industry as a songwriter, writing a song for “Mario” entitled “Let Me Love you” in 2004. that was a number one pop hit which landed him a record deal with Def Jam. Ne-Yo has also written and produced songs for “Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion, Usher, Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson and  others. He released his first solo album on February 28, 2006, entitled “In My Own Words”.

As you look around the Michigan Lottery Amphitheater you see it’s completely sold out. A diversity of concertgoers in one place enjoying the good R&B music of Ne-Yo turned out to enjoy good times and great vibes. Then all of a sudden you hear the crowd start shouting “NEEE-YOOO” over and over. As the lights start flashing, with background graphics glowing, Ne-Yo walks out through the back of the stage. And as you’re seeing the red background light up, a  silhouette of Ne-Yo appears. The lights go back down while Ne-Yo appears center stage. And when the lights come up, the crowd goes berserk.

Ne-Yo opens his show with his hit song “Closer”. From Ne-Yo to the dancers to the band everyone was completely on point! The energy was on from beginning to end. I’ve seen some pretty good shows, but Ne-Yo has been the best so far. Every song Ne-Yo performed the crowd knew every word. Oh, and I see they still throw panties and bra’s on stage, too!

Ne-Yo sang all of his hit songs… “So Sick, “Miss Independent”, “Because Of You”,” Sexy Love”, “Closer”, “Let Me Love You”, “Mad” and of course “Champagne Life”.  I look forward to seeing Ne-yo again, because this was truly a great show! And  in the words of the great Philosopher Ne-Yo “Lets Toast It Up!”
