With the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, IL. hosting Cinderella’s Tom Keifer Friday night, the nearly sold-out venue was up for an incredible and

memorable rocking show.  It was an extremely hot May day and when Tom Keifer sauntered onto the stage, the heated-up crowd would definitely welcome his ever-so-cool swagger onto the stage. While Tom wasted no-time ripping into “The More Things Change” and “The Last Mile” the tone was set for a rocking bluesy jaunt down memory lane to a fun and timeless era of music that may seem a little distant when looking at a calendar, but Keifer proves that he can still be the belle-of-the-ball, and the music he gave us years ago can stand the test of time.
Offering up some newer solo releases like the title track, “The Way Life Goes”, with “It’s Not Enough”, and “Solid Ground” we get an insight into where Tom has gone on his musical journey and the newer material stands up to his classic sound and was well received by the raucous crowd. “Don’t Know What You Got (Till It’s Gone)” was an awe-inspiring duet between Tom and his wife, Savannah. The choreography of Tom sitting at the piano pouring out his heart and soul to his graceful exit from behind the piano to being handed a guitar for the in-your-face guitar solo, finishing out the timeless ballad which poured right into the cryptic intro for “Nobody’s Fool”.

There was an eerie silence as the crowd watched Tom strut with intent, gripping his microphone close to his lips as he had the crowd mesmerized watching him sing his tale of how he’s Nobody’s Fool. While this was certainly the highlight of the show for me, Tom had the crowd eating from his palm as he tore into “Night Songs”, “Coming Home”, “Shelter Me”, and rounding out the evening with an incredibly cool version of The Beatles, “With A Little Help From My Friends” to an appropriate closer in “Gypsy Road”.

While Tom may not be dealing with any evil step-sisters and his chariot didn’t turn into a pumpkin at the stroke of midnight, his musicality and showmanship with this assembly of musicians were second to none. He had everyone in attendance in agreement that he will forever be able to wear those glass slippers from clubs to auditoriums and that he is, and always will be, our musical Prince Charming.
