The Come Up- Shaman’s Harvest

KCS Cabin, Spring Grove, IL, USA, October 03, 2018

by Coren McLeod

I remember covering @officialshamansharvest for the 1st time in the cold winter month of February 2016 at @homebarchicago in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

I was still very naive to the music industry. I didn’t even have the guts or nerves to approach the band to ask for an interview. I didn’t even have the balls to stand close to the stage to get video.

I was reluctant to buy a digital camera. I went to college to learn more about how to use film and every part of the darkroom… Formulas, Sephia tones, colors, filters, shading… etc. Hell, I still have my uncle’s camera from 1985 I still cherish to this day…

Now, I’m here in 2018 and I’ve come a long way baby! I’m happy to know I’m on this amazing journey and I’ve grown. I’m still a fan with every band I take photos

of. Yet, somehow, knowing I’m being taken seriously puts a little smile on my face… Thanks to those who have taken a chance on this midwestern chick with a knack for combining her gift of rambling and being a slight overachiever…

You may be wondering why I went into a little back history with my career at #unratedmagazine. October 4th just seemed like I came full circle with the magazine.

In a few weeks, I’ll be turning 39 years old. I’m for sure wiser with how this crazy music industry works. There are some highs and for sure lows.

Witnessing Shaman’s Harvest for the 4th time, I appreciate their gritty southern rock sound with a good guy nature to them. Their approach to music seems so effortless and raw. With all the tech-savvy bs out there now, it is wonderful to hear a real guitar riff, pounding of the drums, sleek bass lines and a husky man voice.

The audience at Kc’s Cabin rocked out in 50 degrees fall weather to join in singing phenomenal songs like “The Come Up,” “Dangerous, ” and a cover of “Come Together ” which impressed many.

Well, Shaman’s Harvest will be my boys from the great state of Missouri and I’m wondering what is next for the self-proclaimed #CountryasFuck band… New music???

I’m crossing my finger…

#cheers
