Sunday Funday was alive and well at Bottom Lounge on March 24th when the Chicago fan favorite Red Sun Rising rolled into the city. Fresh off the phenomenal success of their 2018 album “Thread…” Red Sun Rising is known for their high electric, energetic performances, and captivating songs. Each band member is known to be a master at their craft and no one leaves a show not dripping with sweat.

Personally, Red Sun Rising has a sound which is all their own. And with their new EP, “Peel” just released, you feel sentimental. On that Sunday night, I was prepared for an eventful evening.

Mike, the lead singer, commands the stage with such power and his forceful nature. He wails on each song such as “Emotionless,” “Push It,” and “The Other Side.” With Chicago being his current home, Mike brought it all out and no one was disappointed. David is such a unique guitar player. He is flashy but in a subtle, humble way. David brings an element which is hard not to recognize during a Red Sun Rising show and me for one love seeing it. Rick (the bass player) is the high energy you love. Rick jumps and jives during each song. Somehow, this is maintained throughout the 45-minute set. Pat is the magical piece which threads ( get it?) the entire band together. Pat is slick, a little goofy yet classy at the same time.

What makes Red Sun Rising stand apart from the other bands out there is their ability to harmonize with one another. Their vocal styling is fantastic and I believe no other act can touch that. Their on-stage presence gets the audience on an adrenaline high and the sheer magnitude can be heard all the way to the Magnificent Mile.

Would I recommend you going to a Red Sun Rising concert? Hell to the yeah. Nothing can be greater than seeing these guys live and in the zone. Go out and support this phenomenal band. I am truly a fan and I promise their new EP “Peel” is wonderful and will make my Top Albums list of 2019.

This is your favorite #craftbeergirl signing off…
