The Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre welcomed one of the original heavy metal pioneers as Judas Priest made a stop just outside of Chicago this past Wednesday night. The crisp summer night air was heated up with nearly five decades of heavy metal hits and Judas Priest on its 18th studio album “Firepower.”

The metal god himself, Rob Halford, sauntered onto the stage with a very poetic ease while guitarist Richie Faulkner was ripping up the fretboard on his guitar leaning into the crowd getting as close as he could to the engaging crowd as they kicked the evening off with “Firepower”, “Grinder,” “Sinner,” and “Bloodstone”.

The metal horns were raised and the fist pumping was exuberant for “Turbo Lover” and the crowd was chomping at the bit for “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’”. “Hell Bent For Leather” had everyone’s engine’s cranking, including the motorcycle Halford drove onto the stage. “Painkiller” finished the initial outro nicely and there was no better choice for an encore than “Metal Gods,” “Breaking The Law” and “Living After Midnight,” all of which had the crowd singing along at the top of their lungs and proved that Judas Priest is still a leader in heavy metal.
