Heart Hitting Straight One: A Night of Classic Rock Magic and Electrifying Performances
Heartâs concert on May 17, 2024, was an electrifying experience that showcased the enduring talent and charisma of this legendary rock band. From the moment Ann Wilson took the stage, her powerhouse vocals commanded the audience’s attention. Opening with the iconic “Bebe Le Strange,” she set the tone for an evening filled with classic rock anthems and emotional ballads. Ann’s voice has only grown richer with time, hitting every high note with incredible precision and passion.
Nancy Wilson’s guitar work was equally impressive, her fingers dancing across the strings with effortless skill. Her performance on tracks like “Crazy on You” and “Magic Man” was a masterclass in rock guitar, blending technical proficiency with raw energy.
The set list was a well-curated journey through Heart’s extensive catalog, delighting fans with a mix of greatest hits and deeper cuts. Songs like “Alone” and “These Dreams” brought a nostalgic wave over the crowd, while newer additions to their repertoire showcased the bandâs ability to evolve while staying true to their roots. The bandâs chemistry was palpable, each member contributing to the dynamic performance with enthusiasm and expertise.
They performed 17 songs including âNeverâ, âLove Aliveâ, âLittle Queen,â âDog & Butterfly,â âDreamboat Anne,â âGoing to California (Led Zeppelin cover),â âThis Is Now,â âStraight On/with Bowieâs Letâs Dance,â âMistral Wind,â âAlone,â âWhat About Love,â âThe Ocean (Led Zeppelin cover),â and ending the night with âBarracuda.â
The crowd’s energy was infectious, with fans of all ages singing along and dancing throughout the night. The Wilson sisters engaged with the audience, sharing stories and expressing genuine gratitude for the continued support over the years. This connection made the concert feel intimate despite the large venue, creating a shared experience that resonated deeply with everyone present.
In summary, Heartâs concert was a triumphant celebration of rock and roll, a testament to their enduring appeal and unmatched musical talent. It was a night of unforgettable performances, leaving the audience both satisfied and eager for more.
Kicking off the night was Cheap Trick, rock legends as well, and their set was quite awesome! From the moment they came on stage, the energy was through the roof. Robin Zander’s voice was amazing, and he nailed every song like “Surrender” and “I Want You to Want Me.”
Rick Nielsenâs guitar work was nothing short of spectacular. Known for his showmanship, he didn’t disappoint, playing his multi-necked guitars with precision and flair. His solos were electrifying, and his playful interactions with the crowd added a fun, personal touch to the concert. Tom Peterssonâs bass lines were deep and driving, providing a solid foundation that kept the energy high throughout the set. Daxx Nielsen, Rick Nielsen’s son, plays drums for Cheap Trick. He has been with the band since 2010, filling in for original drummer Bun E. Carlos. Robin Taylor Zander, Robin Zander’s son, also joined the band more recently, adding his own dynamic style to the group’s performances with backing vocals, guitar, and singing lead on their song âDownedâ.
Cheap Trick performed 13 songs with their classic hits and quite a bit of deeper cuts, ensuring that both longtime fans and newer listeners had something to enjoy. The bandâs chemistry was evident, each member feeding off the other’s energy, creating a cohesive and captivating performance. Their set list included âDream Police,â âHello Thereâ, âElo Kiddies,â âHeart of the Line,â Boys & Girls & Rockân Roll,â âAinât That A Shame,â âI Know What I Want,â âThe Flame,â âSurrender,â and âGoodnight.â
The crowdâs enthusiasm was infectious, with fans singing along and dancing from start to finish. Cheap Trick proved they still have the charisma and musical prowess that have kept them at the forefront of rock music for decades.
