Ravinia Festival, Highland Park, IL, June 2, 2018

Something special was brewing in the air on a cool spring night at the outdoor venue Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, IL, just north of Chicago.  With nearly a sell- out crowd the legendary singer, songwriter, actress, and record producer Diana Ross took the stage. As soon as the crowd heard her voice chanting “I’m Coming Out” they were on their feet dancing.  Diana and her band shot thru all her hits starting with the music she sang back in the 1960’s when she was lead singer with The Supremes. One must remember that the all-female band- The Supremes – is still one of the world’s best selling girl groups of all times.

Diana sang the hits including “My World is Empty Without You,” “Where Did Our Love Go,” “Baby Love,” “Stop! In the Name of Love,” “Come See About Me,” and “Love Child.”  While performing The Supremes hits, behind her on a large screen was fantastic photos of her career with Mary Wilson, Betty McGlowen, and Florence Ballard.   One must remember that the group had 12 number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and the group were pioneers who rivaled The Beatles in worldwide popularity.

Diana Ross then launched into hits she made famous when she exited The Supremes to launch her enormously successful solo career.  The 12 time Grammy nominee performed songs including “The Boss,” “Upside Down,” “Why Do Fools Fall in Love,” and “Do You Know Where You’re Going To.”  Diana’s fans lit up when she performed “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “Reach Out and Touch (Somebody’s Hand).”  During the night ‘the elegant diva’ changed outfits a few times into beautiful flamboyant dresses that fit her style to a tee.

Diana Ross simply gave the crowd the best she had. The night was filled with endless love songs and she left her sea of fans upside down and turning!
