I had the chance to check out the WCOL Country Jam over Labor Day weekend. You may not have heard of this festival. But it is one of the biggest festivals held in Ohio.

It has been going on for over 15 years with some of the biggest names in country music which included in the past with the likes of Aaron Lewis, Kacey Musgraves, Cliff Cody, Maren Morris, Hank William Jr., Chris Stapleton, Chris Young, Justin Moore, The Charlie Daniels Band, Brantley Gilbert, Travis Tritt, Chris Janson, Drake White and The Big Fire, A Thousand Horses, Josh Turner, Emerson Dice, Heidi Newfield, Ashley McBryde, Travis Tritt and Justin Moore,
And this year is no different. This year line up included Dan and Shay, Aaron Watson, Devin Dawson, Craig Campbell, Everette, Mitchell Tenpenny, Chris Lane, Brett Young, Jon Pardo, Sam Hunt, Jillian Jacqueline, Travis Denning, Jimmie Allen, David Lee Murphy, Granger Smith, Maren Morris, and Cole Swindell.

The festival started out as a two-day festival and in 2013 it became a three-day festival held over Labor Day weekend in the historic Legend Valley Music Center and campgrounds. Located near Buckeye Lake in Thornville, OH. It seems like it is in the middle of nowhere. But is located just 30 minutes east of downtown Columbus, OH.

The venue boasts acres of campgrounds and a large field with great views of the stage. Legend Valley Music Center has functioned as a music venue since the early 1970’s but has undergone some name changes since that time. LVMC has hosted a multitude of artists including The Charlie Daniels Band, The Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, Alabama, Journey, and Jimmy Buffett.

The festival is packed with the best country music ranging from classic country and southern rock country to today’s biggest country hit-makers.
Besides the music, they had The All-Star Monster Trucks featuring STINGER and MASTER OF DISASTER! Plus, a 4-wheel drive Truck & Tractor pull and rough trucks!

And what would a country fest be without drinking and line dancing? They had their own bar. The weekend also features Ohio’s biggest honky-tonk at Woody’s

Saloon with world-renowned Country DJ spinning your favorite country tunes until 2:00 AM, line dancing, barbecue, and beer, along with a number of other attractions throughout the venue! Mechanical bull rides and line dancing workshops

I missed the first day of the festival so here is my report for the next two days.

Many people camped out in the large campsite area which includes firewood and real showers. The food was tasty, the people friendly and the music was good. If you are not a country fan, you need to check it out the music live, because it has a different feeling then on the radio.

Here is my short report on day two artist
Everette- They were intoxicating

[srizonfbalbum id=367]

Mitchell Tenpenny- his grandmother was industry legend Donna Halley who shaped the musical landscape of country music as CEO of Sony/ATV Music Publishing. With this skill set, he became a songwriter in Nashville and the rest is history.

Chris Lane- Since his ‘American Idol’ audition ten years ago!  Does he still have “Girl Problems”.

[srizonfbalbum id=369]

Brett Young- He pursued a career as a professional baseball player and was cut short by an elbow injury. Now he is living a dream.

Jon Pardi- During his first song he had some kind of equipment problem and had to leave the stage. He left his band to entertain us. And they did. They played AC/DC Highway to Hell. And I sounded great with Jon coming back and playing lead guitar at the end.

Sam Hunt- Great performance with a strip downstage.

Day Three

Jimmie Allen- Put a little bit of soul into the Country Jam Weekend.

[srizonfbalbum id=375]

Jillian Jacqueline- Does a great Whitney Houston

[srizonfbalbum id=373]

David Lee Murphy- A hard working country artist who has been around since the 90’s, and we all know his songs.

[srizonfbalbum id=376]

Granger Smith- Is he Country or is he Metal? He still sounds good.

[srizonfbalbum id=380]

Maren Morris- Believe it or not she is more than “My Church”.

[srizonfbalbum id=377]

Cole Swindell- He has been working in the industry first as a songwriter than a performer. You know his songs.

And last but not least the People

So watch out for next year campout and get ready to put up your tent.
