July kicked in strong at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre as the “United We Rock” tour rolled in with former lead guitarist of the Eagles, Don Felder, showcasing about one hour of rock classics.  Felder was in fine sprints performing hit songs like “Already Gone,” “Witchy Woman,” “Heartache Tonight,” “Heavy Metal,” “Life in the Fast Lane,” “Take It Easy,” “One of These Nights” and “Hotel California.”  It was great to see Kasim Sulton (from Joan Jett and Todd Rundgren) as his bassist on the tour and also helping out on a few songs were members of REO Speedwagon and Tommy Shaw from Styx.  Felder was a great opening choice for as he flawlessly flew thru song after song with the crowd singing along to all these classic hits.

REO Speedwagon was up next and they really showcased a great set list of their solid rock song. They pounded out hit after hit including “Don’t Let Him Go,” “Tough Guys,” “Building the Bridge,” Time for Me to Fly,” “Keep on Loving You,” “Take It On The Run,” “Riding’ the Storm Out” and closing out their set with “Roll With The Changes.” Lead singer/guitarist Kevin Cronin introduced a new rocking song called “Whipping Boy” that has the genes of another REO hit.

Styx then took stage performing their classics while showcasing a few new songs off their new album “The Mission.” They opened with the first song of their new album called “Gone, Gone, Gone,” and mid-set they performed “Radio Silence,” with Tommy Shaw on lead vocals and also the beautiful “Khedive” off the fingers of pianist/singer Lawrence Gowan.  The good ole’ classic Styx hits got the crowd up and singing along to “Blue Collar Man,” “Lady,” “Miss America,” Fooling Yourself,” and “Too Much Time on My Hand.” They selected the Queen classic “Bohemian Rhapsody” to end the night.
